Start with the process
Mica is supplied in several forms because different processes need different feedstocks. Scrap is a larger raw input used in making mica paper, reconstituted plates and flakes. Flakes are selected for processes such as pearlescent pigment manufacture and decorative finishes. Powder is ground mica used in applications including welding electrodes, cables, foundry work and drilling fluids.
How to narrow the form
Describe what the material must do and what your process can accept. For flakes and powder, give the target particle size or mesh, the method or standard used to measure it, and whether you need a size distribution or a particular grade. For scrap, describe the downstream process, preferred colour or grade, and quantity. If you are unsure, share the end use and ask the supplier to recommend a starting grade.
Make your enquiry actionable
Include the product form, application, target size, quantity, delivery destination and packing needs. A representative sample or your existing specification can help resolve uncertainty. PNR lists mica scrap, mica flakes and mica powder as separate product families; available grades and specifications should be confirmed for each order.
